Allen Cooper - Sheriff, Fremont County

I met Jason Mikesell shortly after I was elected sheriff in 2018.  We shared a common border between our counties and, as rural sheriffs, we shared many of the same problems and concerns.  As I got to know Jason, I learned that he was very involved in his community and believed in the power of community partnerships and collaboration.  He also took a straightforward, no-nonsense approach to problem solving.  This approach was highlighted in Jason’s work on illegal immigration.  When others in law enforcement turned a blind eye to what was going on in our country and our state, Jason actively worked with the Federal government to apprehend those in his county illegally and to get them deported.  He did not shy away from the controversy this created and when sued for his actions, he prevailed.  Jason continues his fight for Colorado by being a member of the County Sheriff’s of Colorados Legislative committee where he works to bring reasonable and responsible legislation to Colorado.  At a time when many of our values and in some cases, our very way of life, are under attack, I am proud to endorse Jason Mikesell to be the next governor of the great state of Colorado
